We didn’t become a not-for-profit to look good. We did it because it’s the only model that made sense.
Somewhere along the way, CaliUnity stopped being “a gym”. We realised we were building something bigger: a place where world-class transformation could fund real community impact — for Bath.
The problem with the usual fitness industry
Most gyms are stuck in the same loop: sell memberships, keep people “busy”, chase profit, repeat. And if you’ve ever worked in that world, you know what happens next…
- People get treated like numbers.
- Coaching becomes “rep counting”.
- Community becomes marketing.
- Wellbeing becomes a poster on the wall.
- And the people who need help most usually can’t afford it.
We didn’t build CaliUnity to be another “fitness business”. We built it because movement changed our lives — and we wanted to build a place where that could happen for as many people as possible.
So we made a decision
If we were going to grow, we wanted to grow in a way that made Bath stronger.
Becoming a Community Interest Company (CIC) locked our mission into the structure of the business. It means we’re not here to extract value from Bath — we’re here to build it.
In plain English: the gym fuels the mission, and the mission fuels the gym.
The CaliUnity model
Premium coaching funds free spaces, free projects and free education. That’s the engine behind Stronger Bath.
Premium Coaching
The gym, online programmes, and corporate wellbeing. World-class coaching that actually gets results.
Reinvest Into Bath
We reinvest time, money and energy into local projects and initiatives. Impact isn’t a side project — it’s the point.
Free Spaces
The Cali Yard — Bath’s free outdoor calisthenics park — built for the people of Bath.
Free Education
Guides, workshops, coaching education and resources. We give away our best knowledge — because it should be accessible.
Free Projects
Scholarships, school programmes, community events and wellbeing initiatives — built with local partners.
A Stronger City
Stronger people. Stronger teams. Stronger businesses. Stronger spaces. A city that feels better to live and work in.
What being a CIC means (in real terms)
For members
- You’re not just paying for classes — you’re funding community impact.
- You get elite coaching, and the city gets stronger as a result.
- You’re part of something bigger than training.
For businesses
- Corporate wellbeing becomes a practical tool, not corporate fluff.
- You join the Stronger Bath Collective and visibly stand for something.
- Your team gets real support, and the city benefits too.
For Bath
- More free spaces, more free projects, more access to movement.
- More collaboration between values-aligned local businesses.
- A city that’s healthier, more connected, and more resilient.
