Is this for total beginners?
Yes - and most of our members started exactly where you are now. Every session has progressions and regressions, so you train at your level, not someone else's.
Our Cali 101 Beginners sessions are built specifically for people who are new and want to nail the fundamentals before stepping into other classes.
How much does it cost?
That depends on what makes most sense for you. We have memberships for different budgets and schedules. Memberships typically work out at less than the price of your daily coffee - and you get coaching, community, and a team that genuinely cares about your progress. We'll chat through the options on a free consultation, find the best fit, and map out a plan from there.
I've got an injury or chronic pain - is this safe?
For a lot of our members, that's exactly why they joined. Libby came in with a torn Achilles in a boot. Chris came in heading for shoulder surgery. Jackson couldn't hold a plank.
Every coach is trained to work around niggles and rebuild capacity safely. If you're under medical care, mention it on your consultation and we'll plan accordingly.
What if I'm older or not very fit?
Our youngest member is 18, our oldest is well into their 80s. Pete joined at 57 after 40 years out of the gym. Claire started at 52. Ashley wasn't a "gym person" either - now she's stronger than at any point in her life.
Age and starting point don't matter. Showing up does!
Where are you and is there parking?
We're based on Walcot Street, with paid parking nearby and easy access from the city centre (free parking right outside before 8am and after 7pm). Most members walk, cycle, or park within a short distance.
What does my first session look like?
Your first session is friendly, focused, and never overwhelming. A coach will walk you through the warm-up, demonstrate every exercise, and offer easier or harder versions throughout.
You'll leave feeling capable and on an endorphin-high.
How quickly will I see results?
Most members notice better energy, better sleep, and less stiffness within the first 1-2 weeks. Visible changes follow as consistency stacks up over the first 6-12 weeks.
Strength and skills build for years - the longer you stick with it, the more the progress compound.
Is this just calisthenics?
Bodyweight strength is the foundation, but it's not the whole picture. Our timetable covers strength (Reps), skill work (Skills, Handstand), mobility, Pilates, and yoga - all coached, all progressive.
You'll build a body that's strong, mobile, and capable. Not just impressive on a pull-up bar.
What if I can only train once or twice a week?
Once or twice a week beats zero. Most of our members train 2-4 times a week, and we'll build a plan around your schedule - not an idealised one.
The timetable runs from 6am to 8pm with weekend sessions, so most schedules can find a workable rhythm.
What makes CaliUnity different from a regular gym?
Three things, really:
- Every session is coached. No wandering between machines wondering what to do.
- It's a community, not a contract. Members come for the workout and stay for the people.
- It's a CIC. We're not-for-profit - your membership funds free fitness projects across Bath.
