Weights VS No Weights?

I’ve had every injury under the sun. Years of powerlifting, grinding away, picking up injury after injury to add weight to movements that don’t serve me to impress people that don’t really care. Yeh, I was strong, with a 280kg deadlift, 220kg squat and 140kg bench, but again, who cares? I could barely run a mile, do a few pullups, let alone move my arm overhead or touch my toes. I had the body of a 70 year old, at 18.

I also loved pulling weird faces when I lifted weights haha!

I didn’t know any different. All the men’s health magazines I read preached weight training. All the sports science books had weightlifting as the pinnacle of fitness. All I saw were jacked men, who were admired by their peers and super good at lifting weights.

Then we founded CaliUnity, and my whole world changed. Before, I could barely touch my toes - now I easily put my hands flat on the floor. Before I couldn’t do pull ups, now I can do one arm pull ups. And the best part? I haven’t trained with weights for 3 years, and yet I can still lift very similar numbers to what I used to.

No longer am I walking into the gym, earphones in, shut off to the world. Instead, I walk into my second home, with a community of people that I know and love and we train and help eachother to get better. Workouts are so much easier when you’re with friends. I’ve gained lifelong friends from working out with people, shared incredible experiences and developed my knowledge and understanding of the sport in such a greater way due to community.

But the main thing I realised? None of that matters. I’m injury free, for life, so I can walk my kids into my 80s. I feel better, where I’m no longer training for 2 hours a day and seeing no results. I train for 45minutes 3 times a week, from home, which equates to how long it used to take me to drive to and from the gym. I have more energy, more drive, and more passion for fitness than ever. And the best thing of all? I’m part of a community that pushes me to be better, and supports me with people that I can share my journey with.

But it’s not just me. Thousands of people around the world are tired of being injured, doing boring repetitive weights and not enjoying fitness. It doesen’t have to be this way. You can make a change, just like the host of our members who made a change also.

Jackson handstanding in Norway! Representing the CaliUnity!

Take Jackson for example, who had chronic back pain for 3 years. He did crossfit 3x a week, trained hard but struggled to put on any muscle mass. He’s also super busy, as a thriving entrepeneur, running his own video coaching business online. He decided to make a change, and was sick and tired of injury and not making progress. He trained 3x week, purely doing calisthenics and progressing with the CaliUnity method. After training with us for one year, he went from 63kg to 76kg, of pure muscle, his back is completely fixed and he is a supportive member of the community, engaging in meetups, events and helping everyone to get better. He mayaswell be a coach in how well he teaches and helps people!

Ask yourself, are you happy with where you are right now? When you look in the mirror - are you proud? When you talk to your friends about your training - are you excited about your progression? Are you sick and tired of being injured, trying the same things over and over again without getting any results? Do you feel lonely in the gym, or do you feel part of a community? If anyone of those relate to you, we know you’ll be a perfect fit for CaliUnity. We’d love to hear where you're at so come have a chat with us by booking in for a chat.
